Courage

Many of us long for courage. As small children, we are drawn to stories of brave men and women who fight hard and show incredible bravery in the face of pure terror. We often think that to have courage means to face external beasts and demons and to physically risk ourselves.

As we grow older those stories grow with us and we begin to romanticise them and idealise them which can leave us feeling like something is missing from who we are.

We don’t see the courage within us.

Every single one of us exhibits incredible courage on a daily basis and all too often it goes unnoticed, even by our own selves.

Stepping into the unknown and experiencing something for the first time is courageous.

Examining our own behaviours and patterns is courageous.

Healing our wounds is courageous.

Holding space for ourselves and our tribe is courageous.

Showing up for ourselves and our tribe is courageous.

Standing up for ourselves is courageous.

Asking for what we want is courageous.

Striving for our goals and dreams is courageous.

Loving who we are is courageous.

Being who we are is courageous.

Personal growth takes enormous amounts of courage.

Don’t ever doubt the courage that lies within you.

“A man with outward courage dares to die; a man with inner courage dares to live.”

― Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching
